WHICH CAME FIRST? THE MUSIC OR THE MISERY? growing up a fairly angsty & socially outcasted kid, i often saw myself and my emotions reflected more accurately in the melancholically poetic lyrics of my favorite bands & artists than anyone i knew irl. i found myself captivated and utterly enchanted by bittersweet soliloquies penned by lonely hearts and kids who never made it, & saw a world where losers & weirdos like me could fit in, feel cool and be free. i adopted this culture as a part of my identity — the sounds, the fashion, the ideas & aesthetics prevalent throughout the scene… while to others this may have been seen as just a phase, or some offbeat way of trying to rebel against society, i felt as though i was truly expressing my inner self & inner demons through this culture of loud music, romanticized misery & obnoxiously bold clothing.

while in some ways this would go on to become an integral part of the girl i am today — creating the foundation for ANESTHETIC and sparking the passion that would inspire me to start doing any of this art stuff in the first place — in others i feel it’s led me down some quite rocky & dangerous (albeit enticing) roads as a teen and young adult. i have a great deal of conflicting emotions and several stories to tell regarding this tumultuous period of my life, and this first era of of singles/videos/clothing is my artsy, pretentious, overly convoluted way of doing that. i believe that art is a weapon, and it is my hope that this new form of storytelling will stick by your side & help you fight your way out of the darkness as my favorite bands & artists once did for me. this project is more than just a band, a miniseries or a clothing collection. it is a survival guide, a cautionary tale, and a piece of my heart that will forever belong to u.

all of this being said, i’m truly ecstatic announce that ACT 1: HEARTBREAK KIDS will be released into ur hands on 3.21.20XX, and the first batch of songs, clothes and visuals will be available for ur consumption & deconstruction. i shall update this blog monthly as the project is being rolled out, so feel free to check back here and comment ur thoughts on each new song, episode & clothing drop. this is just the beginning of something i believe could really change the world, & i hope u enjoy experiencing it as much as i did writing it ^_^
